Major Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while officials has called for "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were wounded.

The assaults succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said utility staff and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
